Biblical literacy is at unbelievable lows. Whether we would like to admit it or not, several generations of American Christians have left their children in worse shape than they were. I do not believe that it is from a lack of desire; most people want to teach their children the Bible, but they simply don't know how.

This website is designed to guide you through working through the New Testament in a year, by reading one chapter a day. Don't worry if you did not begin at the beginning of the year - just pick up here, and next year you will catch up. The gospels are scattered throughout the year, so you will catch the life of Jesus and the major points of theology no matter what.

Whenever you start, just read today's chapter, look at the key verse in particular, read the devotional, engage in the discussion and pray together. When relevant, the devotional will include specific ideas on engaging older or younger kids, but the devotion works just as well for individuals or couples.

What would it take for you to set aside 15 minutes a day, at breakfast or dinner, to study through the New Testament this year with your family?

This devotional is written by Justin Gatlin, pastor of Alvin Missionary Baptist Church. Send me an email if you have any questions or comments!
